dmailer's improvements keep on coming!
Barely a week goes by without another two or three donorflex users asking for a 30-day trial licence for our bulk e-mailing application, or to spend the equivalent of 270 large letter stamps on a 12-month licence.
That last statistic speaks volumes for why that's the case.
We're expecting cries of delight at the latest improvement to dmailer, as well as an added rush of interest from non-users.
With immediate effect, when existing or new users open dmailer, they'll see that dmailer now validates email addresses, and report errors, in a more user-friendly way.
The user can now set a maximum number of invalid e-mail addresses that dmailer will accept in a mailing file before the mailing is prevented. Here's what it means:
- No invalid addresses in list? dmailer sends your newsletter to the entire mailing list
- Some invalid addresses found, but within the specified limit? dmailer sends the newsletter to just the valid addresses. It also sends the usual summary report, but includes a CSV file of invalid addresses
- Some invalid addresses found, more than the specified limit? No newsletters at all are sent by dmailer. A summary report of the invalid addresses will be sent to the user specified in the summary e-mail address field, including an attached CSV file of the invalid addresses
Note that the CSV file will include each addressee's donor number, if it was found in the supplied mailing list. This will help locate the originating record of the invalid e-mail address so that it can be corrected.
That's not all!
dmailer has been improved so that the session log is maintained at a reasonable length to avoid potential out-of-memory problems arising from extremely large mailing lists.
In addition, the "Tracking on" warning on the Send page is now more emphasised to catch the user's eye.
And, finally, the Send page now always shows the total size of the newsletter and its attachments, rather than simply showing the size of the attachments only.
